Helpful Tips

Applying Eye Drops Prior to Insertion and Removal is a MUST!

It helps to practice pinching the soft contact lens off of a fingertip to get the feel for it before trying on the eye.
We suggest placing the soft lens on your index finger of your non dominant hand & practicing the pinch off of your finger to get a feel for actual removal.
If you pinch the soft contact lens off of a finger a few times you will be able to visualize what it takes to pinch effectively.

Using OptiWand® For SOFT Contact Lens Removal

  • Step 1: Applying Eye Drops Prior to Insertion and Removal is a MUST!

    Use a DRY OptiWand® on the Full OR Split Cup End for Soft Contact Lens removal.

  • Step 2: Using your non-dominant hand spread your eye lids as wide as possible, keeping your eyelashes out of the way.

  • Step 3: Focusing through the CENTER HOLE, move the OptiWand® Full or Split Cup END toward your eye until you touch the soft contact lens.

  • Step 4: Once you feel the OptiWand® touch the soft contact lens you should

    TWIST twist it slightly then carefully pinch the soft contact lens with the Base of the OptiWand® and swipe away from eye.

  • Step 5: Once the contact lens touches your eye,

    TWIST the OptiWand® to help release the lens.

    Some users can turn the OptiWand® towards their noses after it makes contact and that will help push it out.

    *Best pinching position is very close to the tip*

FAQ for why the OptiWand® won’t work for SOFT Contact Lens Removal

IT IS NOT A SUCTION CUP FOR SOFT LENS REMOVAL.

SOFT contact lenses are not a solid material and therefore CANNOT be suctioned out.

You will have the highest success by using the OptiWand®

on the flexible FULL CUP side to place in between the fingers and the soft lens

You must be able to get your fingers close enough to pinch the lens off the cornea

and break the bond allowing it to release.
